Workshop Description:

Michael will focus on acting and vocal technique when approaching and performing scenes, songs, and monologues. He will give crucial auditioning guidance for both professional educational auditions, and ways to efficiently and calmly learn new material when time may be limited. Michael very much promotes creating a positive and uplifting work environment in order to support students on their continuous journey in growing as artists. Working with your prepared material and/or new material and exercises, you will find his class to be very beneficial in gaining useful and productive tools for your next performance or audition. You will gain insight on the ins and outs of the entertainment business, tips and tactics for reaching your long and short term goals, and will leave with a sense of clarity, excitement, and drive to encounter or continue to succeed in a career in the performing arts!

What to Prepare: Students must have a short monologue and song ready for the first class.

About Michael Lee Brown…

Michael Lee Brown is a previous Evan Hansen from the six time Tony Award and Grammy winning musical Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway. In addition to playing the title role, he covered the other two male leads (Connor and Jared), and is the first person ever to have performed all three roles on Broadway. Michael has most recently performed Off-Broadway, starring alongside Tony Award winner Judy Kaye in the play “Til Death,” and in various regional theater productions such as: Torch Song Trilogy at the Studio Theater in Washington, DC under the direction of infamous director Michael Kahn. He has been seen on television in shows like Prodigal Son, Happyish, and live performances with the Dear Evan Hansen company at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and on The Today Show, where he received an Emmy Award. Michael is a songwriter as well, having enjoyed various sold out concerts at venues like 54 Below, Green Room 42 and Chelsea’s Table & Stage, and has music that premiered on Billboard and can be heard on all streaming services world-wide. His latest song “Storm” has been featured on various music charts.
